Tips to Help Sell Your Home During the Summer Months

Landscaping:Mow your lawn often as grass and undesired weeds grows faster in the summer months. Make sure your flowers and plants aren’t languishing in the summer heat. To add some summer appeal: trim bushes and consider adding pops of color with potted plants in an entryway to create an inviting feel.

Outdoor Area:This is the time of the year that buyers will be paying close attention to those ‘al fresco’ areas; so make sure your deck, porch, patio and any other exterior areas are looking their best. Arrange chairs and furniture in your yard to create the illusion of an outdoor room. Be sure to make any necessary repairs to your home’s exterior.

Thermostat Levels:Make sure your home is nice and cool; remember that creating a pleasant environment is one of the most crucial steps when selling your home. Buyers will be more likely to spend additional time looking at your home if the thermostat is at a comfortable level but remember, not too cold.

Summer Beverages: Even though you likely won’t be home for a showing, providing some cold beverages on a hot day in summer is an excellent idea. Set out a cold pitcher of lemonade for buyers, fill up the sink with ice cubes and chill some water bottles or sparking water. Anything you can do to make your home feel inviting and make them stay longer can only help you sell.

Air Freshener: While it’s a good idea to fill the air in your home with air fresheners, remember that some people suffer of fragrance sensitivity and this can really send buyers out the door quickly. So consider bringing the outside in with some fresh cut flowers to provide a natural fragrance. You want to avoid giving the impression that excess commercial air fresheners and candles might be hiding something unpleasant in your home.
