The Vancouver Island Ferry Company (VIFC) has revealed its new fast-ferry service, set to begin operation in late June 2023, connecting Nanaimo and Vancouver. The company has launched its new brand, which includes a service name, ‘Hullo.’ The service will operate up to seven round trips daily, with each vessel able to carry 354 passengers in three seating classes: comfort, premium, and business.
The trip between Nanaimo and Vancouver is expected to take approximately 70 minutes, and there will be late-night sailings to accommodate events! VIFC CEO Alastair Caddick confirmed that the vessels are now in the water and undergoing safety and sea trials to ensure they can deliver the safe and beautiful experience that customers want. The boats are expected to arrive in Vancouver Island waters in late June for final preparations, training, and safety checks. The launch event for the new fast ferries Hullo was held on April 19 at the Nanaimo Port Authority, which also marked the commencement of some construction work on-site, including the creation of a guest welcome centre and a 400-stall parking lot. Wi-Fi and a small selection of food and drinks will be available on board.
