Nanaimo & surroundings · An area guide
A pause in the middle of the city.
Diver Lake gives this residential pocket a natural place to slow down. The lake and surrounding greenery sit within Nanaimo’s everyday working city, rather than far beyond it. That combination is the attraction: established streets and useful connections, with a different view when you step outside.

01 · Beyond the front door
Diver Lake sits near Bowen Road and Labieux Road, with connections to the Island Highway and Nanaimo Parkway. Established houses and newer residential pockets make it a useful area to compare with Uplands and Central Nanaimo.
An area guide from Gillette & Associates, Derek Gillette’s Nanaimo real estate practice.

Diver Lake sits within reach of both Nanaimo’s north-end services and the older central city. Bowen Road and Labieux Road are helpful reference points when learning the neighbourhood. Try the journey you expect to make each day, including the turn back onto your own street.
The housing includes established detached homes and later additions. A newer interior does not tell the whole story of an older property. Look at the garden, driveway, storage and relationship to surrounding homes, then compare those details with the floor plan.
Diver Lake gives the area its name and a place to spend time outdoors. The lake, park and surrounding streets are worth exploring together. A home described as near a lake may still require a different walking route from the one you expect.
Long Lake is a separate lake nearby. A Diver Lake address should never be taken to promise a dock or waterfront access. Confirm the location and access attached to the individual property.

What to look for
Older detached homes sit alongside updated properties and newer housing. Lot shape, garden space and the relationship to nearby roads vary, so it is worth walking the immediate surroundings of any home you are considering.
When comparing a house with a townhouse or apartment, consider outdoor maintenance, parking and ownership responsibilities as well as the rooms.
