Chase River is south of Nanaimo on Hwy 1 heading for Victoria. A quiet semi-rural community but still conveniently close to downtown, ferry terminals and the Nanaimo Parkway; it attracts families and couples looking for more affordable real estate prices. Homes are a mix of solid, beautiful old farmhouses in the country-side and eclectic post-war homes, although the neighbour has undergone changes over the last few years with the addition of several newer developments. Due to the new activity, housing prices have started to rise; but there are still some good deals in the area.
